This has been a very successful year for predator control. With over 2000 bait stations and a 42% residual trap catch, it’s been a very successful year according to the Operations Manager Peter Crane. Pest control is now in operation over the whole forest area block giving the 20 kiwi, 40+ kokako, reptiles and plants a fighting chance of surviving against the damage caused by rats, stoats, ferrets and possums. Volunteer attendance at the eleven workdays over the year is increasing too with 20 to 40 turning up each month. Many people also work in the bush in their own time clearing trap lines.
