Pest control operation in the bush to target rats and possums - volunteers needed

Event date: Saturday 17 October 2015 - Saturday 17 October 2015 Export event

The pest control operation is going great guns. The second pre-feed was put out on Sunday with a great volunteer response making the job that much easier. A big thank you to those who came along to help out. Most bait stations are being visited by rats and possums with the pre-feed being eaten out of most of them. This is encouraging.

This coming weekend we are clearing out any pre-feed left in the bait stations, and putting out the toxin.

Please note that there has been a late change of plan. We are going to be putting the toxin out on Saturday 17 October starting at 9am, not Sunday as previously planned.

Are you available to lend a hand? We will provide a full safety briefing and safety gear. You will need to bring along a pack, some snacks and a drink.

If you can help out that would be great. Please let me know – chair@kiwitrust.org – whether you will be able to turn up on Saturday.

Just remember the new day - SATURDAY 17 OCTOBER at 9am at the Otanewainuku shelter.

If you have any queries or need any further information please feel free to contact me.

Kind Regards

With all the amazing work that volunteers have been donating to improving the health of Otānewainuku and lifting its profile through educational talk, OKT kiwi population is increasing. That's good.... isn't it??

Michelle Impey from Kiwis 4 Kiwi will be our guest speaker to talk us through what it takes at a national level.
